Our thoughts are with you guys in Arkansas who recently had flooding. THANK YOU to everyone who came to Nashville and Manchester this week (for CMA Music Festival and Bonoroo). It was extremely hot outside, but your attendance and spending your dollars in our state is helping rebuilding efforts greatly. We worked hard to get things cleaned up and back open for you (Wildhorse Saloon opened just 3 days before festival)- and you all definately showed your appreciation! THANKS!!!

I grew up in Obion/Gibson County. I have lived in the Atlanta area since 1998, but my family (of course) still lives there. In fact, my parents live in Henderson! I did see a blurb on CNN~Headline News~about this, but nothing of this magnitude. My mother sent this to me a couple of weeks ago, but I only watched it today. I cried. But, I must add that I am PROUD to be from WEST (middle or whatever) TENNESSEE! DJ JILES!

We were having 'afternoon' storms in the middle of the night, because the temperatures were in the upper 70's. It didn't help that almost all day May 1st AND May 2nd there were torrential rains.

I don't think any scientists are saying that melting underwater ice will cause sea levels to rise, just what's above sea level in glaciers, ice shelfs, etc. Also, even if there's miscalculation they might not be lying, they could just be wrong. If you listened he even said the "100 year flood mark." So, in other words they have determined with the levee that that area was not likely to flood. Now they will build the levee higher to prevent further. Chances of it happening again are there, but not as likely. Repair it and the mall, then build the park elsewhere

So sad to see this as this hotel was so beautiful when I had visited it 15 years ago. I also feel bad for the employees loosing so much work over this mess too.

I was in Nashville during this flood, we passed a large van that was stuck with water up to their windows in the middle of the road- and then some smart guy decided to join that car. Fantastic dancing and great performance. You need to re-do the video in a bad way though. Try going for a constant aspect ratio (the cameras that shot in 16:9 are squeezed to 4:3 here) and I doubt very seriously that the food court was packed with this many people at 32 minutes past midnight. Lunch would be 12:32 PM. Save the video in a higher quality while you're at it. This deserves better presentation than it's getting.

The first sunburst logged by Gibson was 1936? or 1938. Needless to say Gibson wanted it badly. The story how Mr. Blake introduced it to the Gibson museum is outstanding.

@Shmior So, with this size of a flood, many areas that may have never flooded in anyone's lives will flood (looks like the place in your video)---such as areas that once held or moved water, like unused creeks and old watercourses that will come back into use during these extreme flooding events.

@Shmior I haven't looked at the topography of the area but development in floodplains cannot take place. Those areas will definitely flood. I read it was a 500 year (maybe 1000) flood-the size is very rare & there is little people can do with that much water. Many aspects add to flooding: impervious cover (concrete, asphalt) & cleared land (fields). When it rains that much, there is little people can do. Every once in a while mother nature will let loose & there is really nothing we can do.

I had a lot of fun at this event. I was the makeup artist when I helped out in the women's shelter here in New York. I had fun time getting to know each woman individually. Not every single woman wanted makeup, so it was their choice to opt out. It was still fun to see how happy they were with their kids and seeing their expression on their faces when they saw the results of their pictures. It didn't cost a thing but just your time and efforts. Now they have a lifetime memory in a picture.

FYI I'm not a "bru" I'm a female. Ever see the dove soap commercial? That is exactly a good example of not showing people need to put on a mask to be told they're beautiful. People are beautiful in their natural state! Oh and as someone who has lived on their own since a young age I can tell you from experience the last thing I was want is some stranger to doll me up for a few hours of surface level happiness. As someone who may be helping with makeup and has been pulling supplies together all week ; I'm looking forward to taking care of someone else in a way they usually don't have available. It's a time of pampering and for me a time to get to know each person I help and bring out the beauty in them. They have their stories and pain. The 12th is about connection and making someone else feel special. Besides, no one I know working the 12th is "trying " to do anything...we are DOING.

Makeup for some people is a luxury and makes them feel good like putting on a good suit. It's about making them feel special and giving them a sense of pride and self worth. Like brides or people going to their prom. You could just "take" their picture and run a story on their condition but then you may be shaming them or expoiting them. This is about making them feel worth anything we can give them.

Alright some of you might not like what I have to say. do like the video and what they are "trying" to achieve but where they went wrong is putting make up on people in order for them to feel beautiful. I find that a complete contradiction to making people feel good about themselves. Take real homeless people, take their picture and write up a story about their lives, give them a hug, warm Christmas dinner and leave out the make up.

I was just in nashville this weekend for a singing competition in the first baptist church there. we got out on Sunday morning, just as it started to rain hard. the thing is, WE WENT TO ALL OF THOSE PLACES the days before. the gaylord opryland resort, the mall a couple of miles away from it, downtown nashville, the river, everything. It's horrifying to see all this when we left it untouched. I hope you can make it out!
