With DC and Marvel, it's more about quality over quantity... the majority of Marvel movies are pretty disappointing. I enjoyed Iron Man, but that was about it and I'm a life long comic book fan. Both Chris Nolan Batman movies & Watchmen are examples of quality comic book movies. Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four, Dare Devil, Wolverine, etc... all of those movies were garbage... Marvel just tries to push too many movies out the door as a result they lack the quality that these characters deserve.

Say whatever you will about how good Yo-Yo Ma is, but in 50 years when young musicians are growing up and looking for inspiration, I shall count it very sad that they will not have this wond--no, MAGNIFICIENT cellist alive to show the very best of the cello. Without players like Ma and Perlman are the reason that I have found the inspiration to push myself far enough to be enrolled in the Juilliard School of Music. I can not thank them enough for the passion they have helped me find in music.

All in commemoration of Du Pré. I found it rather odd that his interpretation mimic's hers almost exactly. I don't see how people can even dare to compare the two performances. As Rostropovich said after hearing Du Pre: "There is no need for another" which is why he didn't record his own interpretation (which happens to actually be different than Du Pre, unlike Yo Yo Ma's) until years after her passing. Her husband is conducting, he's playing her cello, it's her interpretation. It's all to her.

I just started playing this piece. I don't think its that bad... knowing scales and such really helps. Dvorak does write in odd keys, but its what makes his music fun to play.

Hey you might be on to something there - too much sympathetic string resonance and you send an audience to sleep! Play it in the flats and there's subtle background tension with the slightly vibrating open strings. I don't know really, only that Joe Pass said don't play solo jazz guitar tunes in E or A as you will fall asleep!

I talked my teacher into letting me do this one for contest because it was a Dvorak, that was before I knew it was in Dflat. lol! I make my life so much harder than it has to be. It's a beautiful piece and I shall leave it on repeat with the hope of the key somehow magically working itself into my brain. What's that you say? Practice? You traditionalists! Cannot wait until I can play this.

If a key can stop you in your tracks then you can't really play as well as you think.. or have really grasped the music.. What if there was no sheet music? Keys are just relative to one another & because most people have much more practice (though they don't really realize it) with the "simpler" keys it's often hard for them to grasp other keys. Practice is key.. and you just can't take it easy there. Gotta know all the keys like they're a part of you.
